Iqaluit Information :
Iqaluit, formerly known as Frobisher Bay, is the capital of Canada’s newest territory, Nunavut. The
city, which is an opening to the eastern Canadian Arctic, sits at the mouth of the Sylvia Grinnell
River and is situated in the south-eastern part of Baffin Island. Iqaluit has a small airport terminal
which stands out the minute you land in the city. The only way to enter the city is by air and by sea.
Canadian North and First Air offer air services to most Canadian cities in the region. Average
temperatures are around 15°C in summer and lower than –30°C in winter. Winter months have
very few hours of sunshine. Iqaluit has about 6,000 inhabitants.
